Best Practice for Referral Tracking in Elation. 

Elation's user group and office messaging feature can be used to track referral status and completion within a practice.

Create a "Referral" user group:

A user group for office messaging can be created in the Settings page by admin users. This user group can include staff members and/or providers that participate in referral tracking for the practice.

Initiating a Referral group message:

When patients are flagged for referral, an office message can be initiated to the 'Referrals' user group.

All members of the 'Referrals' user group will receive the message and will be able to track the outstanding referrals in their Office Message queue.

To view only the messages related to referrals, users can filter messages by only those 'Addressed to group: Referrals'. 

Actions taken and updates can be logged for the referral in the same message thread. To keep the thread open, users should click 'Keep as Requiring Action'. Once the referral process is complete, users can close out the thread.
