Billing Settings - Service Locations & Procedure Codes

Under "Billing Settings", you can curate a list of service locations and procedure codes to ease the entry of billing information on your visit notes. You can also enable or disable patient invoicing.

How do I find my billing's settings?

1.) Go to settings by clicking your email address at the top right corner of your screen. 



2.) Click "Billing" which is located under "Practice Settings".


How do I turn on Patient Invoicing?

Patient Invoicing is a Practice-wide setting that can be turned on or off inside Billing Settings. Patient Invoicing can allow you to assign charges to procedures and generate invoices for patients from your bills.  For more information on updating these settings and understanding this functionality please click here.

How do I add a new Service Location?

When billing for a visit, you can specify a service location and corresponding Place of Service (POS) code.

1.) Practice Locations are automatically added as service locations. Click on "edit" to update an existing service location or add a POS code or click on "+ Add Service Location" to add a new location where you would like to bill. Learn more about selecting a service location on your bill.




2.) Fill out the information for the new service location including the relevant POS code. 

Where do I find the Popular Procedure Codes list?

The list of procedure codes (that will appear when you click into the procedure field in the billing window for a visit note) is stored under Billing Settings. Each practice can freely add or remove codes from the list or change the order in which they appear.

1.) Under Billing Settings, scroll down to the Section called Popular CPT codes. Click "edit" to make changes to existing CPT codes, "remove" to delete codes, "+Add CPT codes" to add additional codes, or drag and drop codes to re-order them. 



Quick Tip: If you already have a patient chart open in another tab while you make changes to your Procedure list in Settings you will need to refresh that patient chart in order for the changes to take effect.

How do I Add Default Charges?

If you have patient invoicing turned on, you can add default charges to each Procedure code in your list. Simply click "edit" and enter the charge amount. 
 

When you add a Procedure code with a default charge to your bill, the "Charge" field will automatically fill with the default charge value. Edit your default charges in Settings at any time, but remember to refresh any patient charts that are open before your changes will take effect.
