Staff Permissions / Staff Delegates

In Elation, each physician can authorize individual staff members to sign orders, prescriptions, referrals and edit billing information on their behalf. Use the list below to jump to the delegate instructions to meet your need.

1. Assign an Order Delegate
2. Assign an Rx Delegate
3. Assign a Billing Delegate
4. Assign a Referral Delegate
5. Revoke Permission from a Delegate

1. Assign an Order Delegate

  1. Go to Settings > Authorized Staff Delegates (under User Settings)
  2. Locate the section of the page titled "Authorize Staff To Sign Orders"
  3. In the box with the green heading - Authorized Order Delegates - click in the field that says "Add New Staff Order Delegate"


     
  4. Type the name of the staff member that you wish to authorize and click their name in the list to add them to you list of Authorized Staff Order Delegates



 

2. Assign an Rx Delegate

  1. Go to Settings > Authorized Staff Delegates (under User Settings)
  2. Locate the section of the page titled "Authorize Staff To Sign Prescriptions"
  3. Follow the same instructions above for authorized order delegates: click in the field that says "Add New Staff Rx Delegate", search for the desired staff member, and click their name in the list to add them as an Rx delegate.

3. Assign a Billing Delegate

Often a staff member or biller is in charge of entering and updating billing information. To designate a staff member to be a "billing delegate" for a particular provider,
  1. Go to Settings > Authorized Staff Delegates (under User Settings)
  2. Locate the section of the page titled "Authorize Staff To Edit Signed Bills"
  3. Follow the same instructions above for authorized order delegates: click in the field that says "Add New Staff Billing Delegate", search for the desired staff member, and click their name in the list to add them as an Billing delegate.

4. Assign a Referral Delegate

When it comes to referrals, each provider has the option to allow all staff in the practice to be able to sign and send referrals on their behalf.

To allow all staff to sign referrals on a physician's behalf, 
  1. Go to Settings > Authorized Staff Delegates (under User Settings)
  2. Locate the section of the page titled "Authorize Staff To Sign Referrals"
  3. Select the first option, which reads: "Allow staff in my practice to execute a verbal order to sign and send referrals on my behalf. In the event of an emergency situation when I am not available, I authorize the staff in my practice to sign and send referrals on my behalf."

5. Revoke Permission from a Delegate

Within the list of Authorized Delegates, just click the "Remove" link next to the name of the staff member whose signing privileges you wish to revoke.
