What are Clinical Reminders?

Elation's Clinical Reminders feature surfaces notifications at the top of in-draft visit notes to remind providers of certain actions to take to address gaps in patient care based on the patient's demographics and recorded problems. Certain Clinical Reminders are tied to specific Clinical Quality Measures for MIPS.

What are benefits of Clinical Reminders?

Certain patients will require certain preventive care follow up or services based on their age and health conditions. As the patient's chart accumulates information over time, it may not be easy to readily identify when certain preventive care services are missing from the patient's care plan. Clinical Reminders will remind you when certain preventive care services are necessary.

Important Note: This feature is part of Elation's Premium EHR offering. Once this feature is activated it will take effect immediately.
  • If you are already a Premium EHR user and you are interested in using this feature, click the "I need help" button to notify Elation and a member of the Elation Team will activate the feature for you.
  • If you are interested in upgrading to Premium EHR to use this features, click the "I need help" -> "Contract Elation Support" button and a member of the Elation team will assist you.

Taking action on a Clinical Reminders

Enabled Clinical Reminders will always appear at the top of in-draft visit notes if the patient meets the conditions for that reminder.
  • To address a Clinical Reminder during an encounter, click "Address" and then select the next appropriate action you will take to complete the requirements for the reminder.
  • To dismiss a Clinical Reminder that will not be addressed during that encounter, click "Dismiss". The same Clinical Reminder will reappear the next time a new visit note draft is open for that patient unless the conditions for meeting the Clinical Reminder have been met.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add my own Clinical Reminder to this list?

You cannot add your own Clinical Reminders to Elation at this time. We will notify you if this changes.

How do I bring a Clinical Reminder back if I accidentally clicked "Dismiss"?

If you clicked "Dismiss" for a Clinical Reminder, the reminder will only reappear the next time a new in-draft visit note is open unless the conditions for meeting the measure have been met. Best practice is to open a second in-draft visit note, copy the contents from the first in-draft visit note to the second in-draft visit note and then discard the first in-draft visit note. Afterwards you can address the Clinical Reminder again in the remaining in-draft visit note.
