What is Single Sign-On?

Single Sign-On (SSO) is an authentication method, for Premium EHR users, that enables users to securely authenticate with multiple applications using a single set of credentials. This single credential is considered a digital identity and comes from an organization’s identity provider (IdP). An example of Single Sign-On is using your Google account username and password to log into your video streaming service account.

Important Note: The Single Sign-On feature is a product for Premium EHR customers only.

  • If you are interested in upgrading to the Premium EHR subscription to use this feature, click the "I need help" button to notify Elation and a member of the Elation Team will reach out to assist you.
  • If you are already a Premium EHR user and you are interested in using this feature, click the "I need help" button to notify Elation and a member of the Elation Team will turn this feature on for you.

Why should I use Single-Sign On with Elation?

Single Sign-On will enable you to log into Elation using an identity provided and managed by your organization. This adds a layer of control over who can access Elation. Practices can now configure an Elation Single Sign-On integration with Google, Microsoft/Azure AD, Auth0, and Okta or any other identity provider that supports OpenID Connect.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I still log into Elation with my email address and password in the new login experience?

Yes, you can still log into Elation with your existing email address and password as long as your organization has not yet integrated Single Sign-On with Elation.

What is an identity provider?

An identity provider (IdP) is a service that creates, stores, and manages digital identities. Companies use these services to allow their employees or users to connect with the resources they need. They provide a way to manage access, adding or removing privileges, while maintaining high-security standards. For example, if you have logged into another application using your Google account, Google serves as the identity provider in that flow.

Which identity providers (IdP) does Elation support?

Elation currently supports Google, Microsoft/Azure AD, and Okta. Additionally, Elation can support any IdP based on the OpenID Connect (OIDC) or SAML 2.0 protocols.

My organization would like to sign on to Elation with our own identity provider, how can I get that setup?

To set up single sign-on with your own identity provider, contact Elation using the "I need help" -> "Contact Elation Support" option at the top of your Elation account to notify us of this request along with the name of your identity provider. A member of the Elation Team will reach out to assist you.
