Can't find the Provider or Contact you are looking for in the Elation Provider Directory? Add them to your Contact List with these quick and easy steps:
- Open a patient's chart
- Click on the "Referral" or "Letter (to Provider)" button in the gray navigation bar
- Type in the name of the Contact (ex. John Doe) and then hit the "Tab" key on your keyboard or click into the "Subject" or "Body" of the Letter.
- Click on the "Add Details" button that now appears to the right of the name
- Choose whether the contact is an "Individual" or "Organization" and then fill out their contact information. Most importantly, enter their Phone Number, Fax Number and Email if you have this information to facilitate contact
- Once you have entered in all of the contacts' details, click "Save" and the Contact will now show up in your Contact List when you write Letters or Referrals.
Note: The Referral or Letter to Provider feature is not recommended for patient communication. Do not store your patient's information as a Contact. Use the
Letter to Patient feature to communicate with patients via Patient Passport.
How do I edit contact information for a contact?
To edit a contact's information, click on the "Edit Details" button next to their name. After you have editing their information, click "Save" to save your changes.
Some of the contact fields are locked. How do I edit those?
If the provider is part of Elation's main Provider Directory, their contact information will be locked and you will not be able to make any changes on your own. Fill out this Contact Support Form, tell us what information the updated information should be and we will make the changes for you.
How do I delete a contact?
Contacts cannot be deleted from the database. We recommend updating the contact's information so that you can re-use the Contact entry or making a note in the contact's name or details to signal your office to not use the contact.
